Pensacola Museum of Art
The Pensacola Museum of Art offers a very inexpensive, yet culturally rich experience for locals and vacationers.
Their primary focus is on acquiring works of art created in the 20th and 21st century. It’s a good place to check out modern and contemporary art paintings and sculptures from this period.
Some of their most noteworthy artists include: John Marin, Salvador Dali, Miriam Scharpiro, Fairfield Porter, Thomas Hart Benton, Alexander Calder, Alex Katz, Lynda Benglis, and Milton Avery.
Another feature of the Pensacola Museum of Art is their collection of European and American glass and African tribal art.
As we mentioned, it’s inexpensive. Members get in for free and non-member adults pay just $5. Children over 5 pay $2—under 5 is free. The museum also offers free admission on Tuesdays.
The museum also has revolving exhibits. For instance, as of this writing they have an upcoming exhibit “Sosaku Hanga: Modern Japanese Prints,” which will feature about 20 Sosaku hanga prints from the 1950s and 1960s.
Their revolving exhibits tend to last two or three months in length.
